MetroWest Housing Coalition

Who We Are

The MetroWest Housing Coalition brings together residents, community leaders, housing providers, municipal departments, human service organizations, and local stakeholders working toward more accessible, affordable, and equitable housing. We collaborate to share resources, identify gaps, address systemic barriers, and develop solutions that strengthen housing stability across the region. We center resident voices and experiences to better understand the challenges our communities face and inform our work. Together, we are working to expand access to safe, stable, and affordable housing for everyone.

Our Journey

2023 – Building the Foundation

The MetroWest Housing Coalition launched in November 2023 through funding from the Community One Stop for Growth’s Urban Planning Agenda program. This funding supported the development of the Housing Toolkit and a community listening session in Framingham, creating the foundation for the Coalition’s community-driven approach to understanding local housing needs.

2024 – Investing in Long-Term Change

In July 2024, the Coalition received Massachusetts Community Health & Healthy Aging funding, providing five years of support to build on this work, strengthen collaboration, and advance housing stability throughout the MetroWest region.

2025 – Expanding the Conversation

With funding from the Community Foundation for MetroWest, MWHC expanded its community engagement model beyond Framingham. The Coalition replicated its listening session process in Marlborough, creating an opportunity to hear directly from another MetroWest community and identify shared and unique housing challenges.

2026 – Turning Insights Into Action

Building on insights gathered through the Framingham and Marlborough listening sessions, the Community Foundation for MetroWest provided additional funding to support a public education and community engagement campaign. This next phase focuses on sharing what we have learned, increasing awareness of housing challenges and resources, and engaging residents and community partners in creating solutions.
