Empowering Access to Affordable Housing
The MetroWest Care Connection Housing Coalition is a dynamic, cross-sector partnership dedicated to enhancing access to affordable housing across the MetroWest region. Established with the support of Community One Stop for Growth Urban Planning Agenda funding in November 2023, our coalition brings together housing services providers, municipal departments, human service organizations, and other key stakeholders to foster collaboration and drive meaningful change.
Our Journey
In our inaugural year, the MetroWest Housing Coalition focused on two critical projects:
- Housing Toolkit Development: We created a comprehensive Housing Toolkit designed to equip providers in the MetroWest region with valuable resources and best practices.
- Community Listening Sessions: We conducted sessions to gather resident input, which informed the City of Framingham’s Housing Production Plan, ensuring that community voices play a pivotal role in shaping local housing strategies.
With a grant from Massachusetts Community Health & Healthy Aging in July 2024, we are poised for continued impact over the next five years. This funding will enhance our Housing Toolkit, bolster our advocacy efforts, and increase resident engagement within the Coalition.
Who We Are
The MetroWest Housing Coalition is a diverse network of stakeholders united by a common goal: improving access to affordable housing in our region. Our collaborative approach enables us to share resources, advocate for effective policies, and address systemic barriers to housing stability.
Our Goals
- Increase Knowledge: Enhance awareness of available housing supports throughout the MetroWest region, ensuring that individuals and families can find the assistance they need.
- Identify & Evaluate Barriers: Work to uncover and address obstacles to housing, striving to create a more accessible and equitable housing landscape.
- Improve Interagency Communication: Foster better communication among agencies and organizations to streamline efforts and improve housing services.
- Support Advocacy Efforts: Strengthen and amplify advocacy initiatives to promote effective housing policies and solutions.
- Centralize Funding Information: Provide centralized information about potential funding opportunities to support housing initiatives and projects.

RELATED NEWS
Between April 11 and June 4, 2024, the MetroWest Housing Coalition conducted a research project focused on affordable housing access in Framingham. We held 15 community listening sessions, engaging 166 residents to gather their insights on the city’s housing landscape. You can view the findings in our report here.
